Now That You Decided To Start Your First Website

Ok, so you have decided that you want to put up a website. Congratulations, it is a great way for you to be able to interact with others online! Now your time online won't just be spent browsing other peoples hard work. Those people will be browsing yours. And best of all you may even be able to make a few bucks while you're at it.

You probably either have a friend who has a site helping you, or you're doing the research on your own. You have probably heard about something called a domain registry, and about something else called a web hosting service. You have probably also been a bit confused by the different kinds of Web hosting available. Shared hosting, dedicated hosting, and VPS are only a few of the choices you have (though the most common).

Well, if there is one piece of advice you should take in, the best thing you can tell yourself is to relax. While it may seem confusing now, with a few short hours of research you should have a good idea on getting your own site up and running. You won't be able to learn everything just yet though. The amount of trouble you can get yourself into is pretty limited in the area of Web hosting and websites and the most dangerous pitfalls can be avoided with a little bit of research, some forethought, and then just some good old common sense.

Through all of your decision making, keep in mind that web hosting it the most important aspect of having your own website. For sites just getting started, the vast majority should work with Joomla templates. At some point your site may outgrow shared hosting. At that point you can start looking into VPS hosting or dedicated servers. Remember that researching the Web host you plan on using is a good idea, but also remember that if you get started and your Web host turns out to be hard to work with, you can always leave and find another one.
